The software industry is a field with an extremely high degree of labor productivity. It also has produced results in industry incentives and employer incentives and is a core industry that acts as a driving force in the country of Japan. In March 2009, Fukuoka Prefecture formulated a new IT strategy. Ruby – a programming language that allows for fast and innovative development and is predicted to spread throughout the world - is at the center of this strategy, which will facilitate the development of software development technology.
Promotion activities for businesses that utilize Ruby are being implemented within the prefecture through the private community (the Ruby Business Commons [RBC]). These activities are focused on software development engineers and individuals affiliated with universities.
In collaboration with the activities of the RBC, to facilitate the gathering of leading companies in Ruby business and to further develop the software industry in Fukuoka Prefecture, the Fukuoka Ruby Business Hub Promotion Committee (F-Ruby) was established through software development companies within the prefecture, user companies located across the nation, universities, and the government.
